Where Your Treasure is, There Your Heart Will be Also.
In Matthew 6:21 from the Holy Bible, Jesus poignantly and accurately states,
"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
For purposes of this article only, it matters not who the original hearers of His message were. Rather, how commanding and prophetic His message - and He said it over 2,000 years ago!
What makes me smile is that this is yet another example of Jesus cutting through rhetoric and excuses.
He simply states the obvious and keeps moving on. Yet, He knows full well that He has once again exposed the truth of our
hearts condition - and the core of it - is depravity.
In Jeremiah 17:9 it states, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked - who can know it?"
Ouch! Is this why the mere mention of Jesus elicits such great joy for some and utter contempt for others?
Could it be that we ourselves know our depravity and hate someone else pointing it out? Surely, we must be aware of our own
selfishness if nothing else. I mean we do have a moral compass - even though we're bombarded with liberal messages to supress it.
This is a message of great soberness for me - but also one of great joy. Why? Because like a barometer or benchmark,
it allows me to determine where my own heart is in terms of earthly strivings and my walk with God. Should I continue on this current
track - or should I deviate somehow? One things for sure, prayer is always in the forefront.
Regardless, be not deceived precious ones. Jesus, the Son of God, surely has the power of life and death in His hand as He exposes
who and what we really are. And He has the power to forgive our sins, to direct our steps, interced on our behalf to Father God (YHWH),
keep us close to Him and prosperous us here and in the future as we seek His face.
